The theme of the competition is Washington Landscapes. Professional photographers and graphic artists are encouraged to participate.
This is an inaugural event and there will be no entry fee. Awards will be announced in the following categories: Adult 1,2,3, Youth 1,2,3 (17 and younger), Best of Show and People's Choice.
All images must begin with a photograph taken at a specific geographic location. Unaltered raw image may be requested to resolve questions of a judge. A maximum of three individual submissions per artist-photographer is allowed.
Images may be color or monochrome and may be digitally altered or enhanced. All submissions must include the artist's name and contact information (email and postal), entry category, a specific location of the landscape, unique title and brief story or tagline. Student submissions must also include name and contact information of the artist's parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Name of school and teacher or advisor is optional.
The maximum image size for all submitted digital images is 1024 pixels on the long edge. Guidance for printed images for up to 35 finalists is not to exceed 16" plus 2" white mat for a total of 20". A frame is not requested. Finalists will be publicly displayed at the AC Fine Art Gallery in Kingston. Students whose parents or legal guardians have not given express permission for their student's artwork to be displayed are ineligible for awards.
Judging will be conducted in two phases; digital submission and physical presentation for finalists. Digital criteria will be evaluated by jurists on theme (15%), originality (30%), artistic merit (30%), and technical excellence (25%). The digital phase will determine finalists, who will then be required to promptly submit physical prints with mat. Finalists will be additionally evaluated on print quality and presentation for final determination of awards.
Submission of an image authorizes limited license to AC Photography for promotional media relative to marketing of AC Photo, Frame & Fine Arts.
Images may be submitted via email to Johnny@almostcandid.photography with the artist's contact information and image information. Please one photo per email (maximum of three submissions per artist).
Last date for entry is Friday, May 26th, 2017.

We received such great feedback from our Haunted Images Competition last fall that we thought we would introduce a spring/summer competition as well! AC is planning now for a new photographic arts contest featuring Washington landscapes, June 2017. Watch for changing details here and on our Facebook event page.
May 26th: Emailed submissions are due by 6:00 PM.
June 2nd: Up to 35 finalists will be notified via email and given instructions on how to proceed.
June 10th: Finalist's printed submissions with mat must be received by 6:00 P.M.
June 13th - July 8th: Finalists will be showcased at AC's gallery in Kingston. The viewing public may visit during business hours and vote for People's Choice Award!
TBD: Award reception will be held at AC Frame & Fine Art. Finalists, jurists, and the public are all encouraged to attend! Light refreshments will be served by the AC Staff.
July 11th: Finalists can pick up their entries at this time during regular business hours. Please call ahead to ensure a staff member will be at the gallery to assist you.
