Begin now and prepare for Almost Candid's second fall photographic arts competition, Haunted Images 2 (Boo!). You can see the 2016 winners here. Have fun, get spooky, and win an award - adult and youth categories.
The theme of the competition is Haunted Images; a fun, spooky and spirited presentation of graphic and photographic art consistent with the Halloween season. Professional and student level photographers and graphic artists are encouraged to participate.
There will be no entry fee. Awards will be announced in the following categories: Adult 1,2,3, Youth 1,2,3 (17 and younger), Best of Show and People's Choice.
A maximum of three individual submissions per artist-photographer is allowed.
Images may be color or monochrome and may be digitally altered or enhanced. All submissions must include the artist's name and contact information (email and postal), entry category, unique title and brief story or tagline. Student submissions must also include name and contact information of the artist's parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Name of school and teacher or advisor is optional.
The maximum image size for all submitted digital images is 1024 pixels on the long edge. Guidance for printed images for up to 35 finalists is not to exceed 16" plus 2" white mat for a total of 20". A frame is not requested. Finalists will be publicly displayed at the AC Fine Art Gallery in Kingston. Students whose parents or legal guardians have not given express permission for their student's artwork to be displayed are ineligible for awards.
Judging will be conducted in two phases; digital submission and physical presentation for finalists. Digital criteria will be evaluated by jurists on theme (15%), originality (30%), artistic merit (30%), and technical excellence (25%). The digital phase will determine finalists, who will then be required to promptly submit matted physical prints on foam board backing (substrate) sufficient for wall display. Finalists will then be additionally evaluated on print quality, accurate representation of the original image, and presentation for final determination of awards.
Submission of an image authorizes a limited license to AC Photography for promotional media relative to the marketing of AC Photo, Frame & Fine Arts, and photo competitions.
Images may be submitted via email to Johnny@almostcandid.photography with the artist's contact information and image information. Please, one photo per email (maximum of three submissions per artist).
